Membership and trainers

Membership is earned, not bought. Everyone who passes an Association certification becomes a member, and trainers keep active membership to teach and certify under the Association’s name.

Practitioners and Master Practitioners

Membership begins with certification and is recorded for life. Each group is registered with the Association before certification, and each successful candidate is entered in the registry.

Trainers

Certified Trainers

Trainers hold annual membership, which authorises them to deliver and certify Association programmes. In return, the Association supports their work and their practice.

  • Scripts, materials and toolsThe complete Practitioner script and materials, with a proposed module schedule.
  • Continuing educationRegular further training for members, organised by the Association.
  • Certification under the Association’s nameNumbered, co-signed certificates entered in the public registry.
  • Professional communityLegal support, use of the Association’s mark, referrals, peer support groups and an annual trainers’ gathering.

Becoming a trainer

From participant to trainer

Every Association trainer has completed the full pathway. Members and trainers can only be people who trained within the Association.

  1. Practitioner certification

    Eight modules, practice sessions and a two-part examination.

  2. Master Practitioner certification

    Nine modules and master-level certification.

  3. Trainer programme

    Psychoeducation, group work and mentoring, including work as an assistant trainer.

  4. Examination and supervised group

    Trainer certification, then the independent delivery of a full group under supervision.

  5. Authorised trainer

    Delivers Practitioner programmes; Master programmes follow after five certified groups and mentoring.

What membership asks of you

Follow the Code of Ethics

Every member, at every level, commits to the Code of Ethics and keeps up with its updates.

Teach to the standard

Trainers deliver the minimum curriculum, respect the scope of practice and submit changes for approval before a programme begins.

Protect participants

A written training agreement with every participant, clear information about the programme and full confidentiality.

Take part in continuing education, supervision and professional exchange throughout your career.
