Privacy notice
How we handle personal information in the credential registry and on this website.
Who we are
This notice explains how the American Association for Applied Psychology and NLP (“the Association”, “we”) handles personal information on apnlp.org and in its credential registry. The Association is responsible for the information described here. You can reach us through the contact form.
What we hold
- Registry records. For every credential we issue: the holder’s name, the credential level, the certificate number, the date of issue and its status.
- Contact details of members. The email address we use to send sign-in links and Association notices. It is never shown publicly.
- Optional profile information. A photo, headline, location, short biography, website and public contact email — only if a member chooses to add them.
- Messages and requests. What you send us through the contact form or an access request.
- Technical data. Signed-in members receive a single strictly necessary cookie that keeps them signed in. We use no advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for security.
Why we use it
- To keep an accurate register of the credentials we issue and to let the public verify them. Verification protects clients and employers and gives each credential its value.
- To let members sign in, manage their profile and share their verified credentials.
- To answer enquiries, handle ethics concerns and send members information about the Association.
- To protect the site and the registry from misuse.
What is public
The registry does not publish lists of members. A record appears only when someone searches for a member’s exact full name or enters a certificate number together with the holder’s surname. A record then shows the holder’s name and valid credentials. Additional profile information is shown only if the member has switched their public profile on, and members can switch it off at any time.
Search engines are asked not to index records whose holders have not switched on their public profile.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for marketing. We use service providers to host the website and send email, under their own confidentiality and security obligations. We may disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Registry records are kept for as long as the Association exists, because a credential must remain verifiable throughout the holder’s career. Optional profile information is kept until the member removes it. Messages and access requests are kept only as long as needed to deal with them and for our records.
Your choices and rights
- Members can sign in at any time to view their record, change or remove optional profile information and switch their public profile on or off.
- You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate.
- You can object to the publication of your record in exceptional circumstances; we will consider every request carefully, bearing in mind that verification of credentials serves the public.
To make a request, use the contact form. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it.
Security
Members sign in with single-use links sent to their registered email address, so there are no passwords to steal. Access to registry administration is restricted, all traffic to the site is encrypted, and searches are limited to prevent the registry from being harvested.
