General Assembly adopts the Code of Ethics

At its session on 29 September 2024, attended by twenty of its twenty-seven members, the General Assembly adopted the Code of Ethics of the American Association for Applied Psychology and NLP.

Prepared by the Board of Directors, the Code draws on the codes of established professional psychotherapy associations in Europe. It binds every member of the Association and covers:

• responsibility towards clients, participants, colleagues, the Association and society;
• client welfare, agreements and the frame of education;
• confidentiality and records;
• professional competence and relationships with colleagues and related professions;
• advertising and public statements;
• specific obligations and prohibitions.

Among other things, the Code requires trainers to give clients clear and truthful information about their qualifications and the education they offer, prohibits every form of exploitation, and sets out when and how confidentiality may be broken. It applies for the duration of the education and for three years after it ends.
